Despite the several threats posed by the pandemic, Dilasag NHS put up “Gulayan sa Paaralan” for school year 2020 – 2021.

Teachers, staff, parents, and stakeholders joined the preparation of the site and the planting of the seeds.

On November 3, the faculty, and staff of Dilasag NHS met to plan and design the “Gulayan sa Paaralan” for this school year. In compliance with the results of the district meeting last October 13, and webinar on October 23, attended by Ma’am Karen Joy Cayetano, the school’s Gulayan sa Paaralan Coordinator. It was followed by the dissemination of information and encouragement of parents to volunteer per class.

The faculty and staff, with the parents and other stakeholders, began to renter services on November 7 until the first week of December. The preparation included the tilling of soil, installation of fences, and planting of seeds. Parents from different sections were assigned in different schedules so that health protocols will be strictly followed. Furthermore, each section was tasked to bring 5 long bamboos and 5 pieces 5-feet long Malunggay scions for the fences. The parents willingly plotted 2 planting columns which were 10 x 2 in size.

The site was visited and evaluated by the assigned team led by Dr. Alfred M. Lopez, Special Event Specialist II, with the assistance of Mr. Danny Garcia, Municipal Technician of the Department of Agriculture – Dilasag, and other members who accompanied them in the evaluation and visitation.

Mr Lopez gave recommendation for the improvement of the garden and stressed that the assessment made was just an initial evaluation.
